Education

Our Education program focuses on the need for higher education and we make scholarships and endowments available whenever possible. We, the men of Phi Beta Sigma, recognize the importance of "scholarship" and diligent studying to acquire knowledge, for knowledge is truly power, and It is a necessity of our people to empower themselves with whatever means that are available.

Education Initiatives

ó The Sigma Beta Club, Our National Mentoring Program- One of the more notable accomplishments of the Fraternity, has helped to shape and mold young men and boys nationwide. These clubs provide mentoring, guidance, educational, tutorial assistance and advise to young men between ages 6 to 18.

ó Project S.E.T. (Sigma Education Time)- Project S.E.T. 's goals are to increase grade point averages and graduation rates of collegiates throughout the nation. Sigmas serve as role models to the campus community in order to realize that education must come first for success and empowerment in the new millennium; and dispel prejudices and negative stereotypes of African American men by establishing education as our top priority.

ó Sigma Scholars: (A Resource Guide to Better Scholarship)- This study was researched and designed at the request of our Sigma Beta Clubs and collegiate members. Sigma Scholars covers a variety of topics encompassing essay examinations, studying for math and science, tutoring sessions and note taking.

ó Phi Beta Sigma Book-A-Bration For Our Youth- The objective of this program is to collect 20,000 books nationwide to donate to local schools and churches.

ó Phi Beta Sigma Educational Foundation (PBSEF)- This tax-exempt program enables educational achievement via scholarships and grants for our youth and to fund leadership development.

As Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. brings in the progresses forward, we will make sure to keep the fortitude in our everlasting goal, "To be the leading proactive community service organization." There is a great deal of work needed to restore faith and hope to many ailing communities across the nation. Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. "The Fraternity of Firsts" will play a part in the healing process. Sigma men have the talent, energy, and desire to make a difference.

Statement on Hazing Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. takes any form of reported hazing very seriously. Hazing has not and does not represent the traditions of the 95 year history of our fraternity.

Georgia Hazing Law § 16-5-61. Hazing It shall be unlawful for any person to haze any student in connection with or as a condition or precondition of gaining acceptance, membership, office, or other status in a school organization. Any person who violates this Code section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor of a high and aggravated nature.
